I have not yet seen this movie, but from these two images alone it gets my vote for the Oscar.  This hand-drawn movie won the top prize at the Edinburgh Film Festival in July, and is the first animated movie to win this acclaim. Tomm Moore’s “Secret of Kells” is set in medieval Ireland and is about an apprentice monk who works with an illuminator to finish the Book of Kells.  The Book of Kells was transcribed from the Latin by Celtic monks and is considered an Irish national treasure. For more images and information on how this movie was made check out Tom Moore’s blog. The richness of the illustration I think is just awesome!
