About

I have been drawing and painting all my life. I was born in Africa and spent my childhood in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and England. My work has been strongly influenced by traditional and ethnic design. For many years I worked as an art director and graphic designer in print.

I now work from home as an artist, calligrapher and book seller. I belong to The Book Art’s Round Table in South Orange, NJ and enjoy making hand made artist’s books.  The Beasties have been my main focus for a while now. They first came marching forth in several accordion style books which I later reproduced as hand made books. This was followed by a blog: http://beasties.tumblr.com/ where I draw a Beastie each day and post it. My store on Etsy sells my Letterpress prints and Tee shirts with beastie designd on them. Please visit it at: BeastlyBeasties.etsy.com

  1. I love your site. Keep it up !

  2. Hi Ann,
I’m a local mom – I believe our kids go to the same school.
I love your work and have a (perhaps odd) question:
I’m considering getting another tattoo to mark a special event…the plan is a dragonfly. However, that’s a pretty common tattoo image & that bothers me a bit. I’d love to chat with you about the possibility of making a more unique dragonfly creature drawing that could be used for the tattoo…please let me know if this is something that interests you.

    best,
    Kim

  3. Hi Ann,

I saw on an Etsy forum that you were having a hard time finding OttLites. Before you buy any, please read my blog post about lighting here:

    http://gpix.wordpress.com/2010/07/19/a-lesson-on-lighting

OttLites are not a cure all, as a lot of folks seem to think. You’ve got plenty of other options, so don’t be afraid to shop around.

    Good luck,

    Mike

  4. Hi Ann,
I have a question about a T-shirt of yours I bought at the Artists’ Studio Tour.
Is there I can email where I can PM you?
    Thanks, Marcia LeBeau
